Q&A with Jennifer

Jennifer Karchmer is the founder, host and producer of "I am press." Following is a self-conducted interview with Jennifer, recorded on Feb. 22, 2026 in Montreal, Quebec.

Q: How did you come up with the idea "I am press"?
Jk:

Q: So is it a podcast, webinar,  or what? Do you watch it, or listen to, take notes?
JK:

Q: How long have you been following press freedom, Jennifer?
JK:

Q: Who do you hope to watch (or listen to) this series?
JK:

Q: How have things shifted in the past few years in terms of xxx?
JK:

Q: What are you doing in Montreal, in winter?
JK: I spend part of the year, usually in winter, in Quebec. I'm a winter sports nut—ice skating, snowshoeing— and speak French so being in Montreal and part of Quebec fills my soul with the language, culture and activities. I grew up in upstate New York and spent the winter of 2012 in Reykjavik, Iceland so I'm no stranger to the white stuff.

How to get the most out of the episodes

Is it a podcast, a webinar, a video series? It's all of these things.
don't have to watch in order, don't have to watch the entire episode use the tools like the transcript to locate pertinent keywords relevant to you, or use the chapters at the bottom of the screen to scroll through, Also, I speak intentionally and clearly so you could speed up the episode (1.25x recommended) and still understand the information and grasp the concepts at a quicker pace.

You'll notice there are no bells and whistles, fancy studio space or lighting. The focus is the report on the screen. Because I produce my episodes while traveling I may record at a hotel, Airbnb, or in a coworking space so you'll notice a variety of real backgrounds. As aprofesional broadcast it's important that the audio and video are clear (I use Adobe Podcast) to enhance the audio
There's no AI used except for the chapters at the bottom of the page.
